UFC 103 Weigh ins yesterday
My friends and sometimes training partners Marc Fiore, Robbie Lawler, Matt Veach, and Brian Foster to me backstage to the weigh ins yesterday after spending a couple days with them in the hotel. I deserved it anyway after taking thier training gear to my house and washing it.... Holy Crap it was rank! The great thing about all of it was that I talked with Scrape of Tapout and he commited to helping my charity. www.afighterschance.com
Also Scotty of Dollumar mats is going to help out as well.
It was a great day. I hope my buddy Brian destroys Rick Story. I am also behind Drew and Rich.
I am also depressed that proffessionals these days are not making weight.

This is what will go on my website. What do you think?
Shane Lee was born on September 11, 1975 in Pensacola Florida at Sacred Heart Hospital. His mother, Debbie, had a difficult delivery and despite her objections the Doctor used forceps to deliver him. It is suspected that the damage caused by the forceps delivery caused Shane to have Cerebral Palsy that affects his left side. The Shriner's Hospital provided him with a leg brace until he had surgery at West Florida Hospital in 1981. The Shriner's in Shreveport, LA offered the surgery at no charge but his father, Russell, did not want to leave him there while they would be in Florida. A kind doctor, Dr.Bisinger, offered to do the surgery at West Florida at a reduced cost and even waived his fee. These acts of kindness Shane has never forgotten.
Shane was picked on often and was even made an example of in front of his kindergarten class because he could not zip his pants. Students were sometimes harsh to him but his great principle, Mr. Copeland, with one arm would counsel Shane when he would get into fights or be picked on. His leadership was not forgotten.
Shane found Martial Arts early in life and idolized Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. His parents recognized this and were financially able to put him in Jack Motley's Karate in Atmore, AL when he was 11. Mr. Motley never backed off of Shane and challenged him at everything. He once bet Shane a Cheeseburger, Fries, and Coke he couldn't jump kick higher than everyone in the class. Shane recalls that was the best meal he ever ate! Mr. Motley's belief in him meant allot to Shane.
Shane was shy about asking girls out. He has a very outgoing personality but recalls the fear of rejection he had but when he met Shavon he knew she was the one and wasted no time asking her out. She didn't even seem to see his disability and forced him to try things he previously had not with regard to improving his condition. Her love, belief in him, and determination to help him kept him going no matter how hard it got.
Shane learned from his father the importance of working hard for the things you want and making your own way in the world and from his Mom he learned how to persevere no matter how hard it gets for the one's you love and your beliefs. Shane excelled in every position he accepted as an employee becoming a construction superintendent in his 20's and then changing his career totally to technical chemical sales and being promoted 4 times in 3 years to management. He learned allot about people and the world through this journey.
Shane found MMA in 1999 through a good friend named Chan. After his first rear naked choke he was hooked and had to learn more. He contacted Mr. Royce Gracie at his home and received pointers and follow-up calls from Royce to discuss his improvement. Shane was training at home with friends via the Gracie series VHS tapes. The ground work was being set.
Shane traveled to Arlington Texas in 2000 and trained extensively at Mohler's Jui-Jitsu. Shane had also taken up weight lifting and gained nearly 55lbs in a year and gained allot of strength. He was benching 315lbs at this time.
Mr. Mohler took time to work with Shane's disability as did Mohler's wrestling coach (Ucef) and kickboxing coach (Saikson). He made huge strides with his disability during this time. Shane also trained with Chief James Srygley of Vicent, Alabama and the Southern Brazilian Jui-Jitsu Team.
Shane and his family eventually moved to Paris, Texas were he found the great Professor Carlos Machado in Farmer's Branch and became an instructor under Mr. Machado. Shane befriended Marc Fiore, Matt Hughes, Matt Lindland, Robbie Lawler and other MMA icons. He founded the Headhunters MMA fight team and continues his MMA training with Marc Fiore and others.
MMA and Martial Arts in general changed Shane's life for the better he feels the improvement of his condition was a direct result of his involvement in Martial Arts and being given a fighter's chance.
Shane's goal is to be an example to his family others with disabilities, and people without. He wants to show the world that the people involved in MMA are good people who want to help others. He wants to tell others his story and give back to others by allowing them to have "A Fighter's Chance".

The Beginning
I was born on September 11, 1975 after a hard delivery (according to my Mom). My Mom recalls asking the doctor not to use forceps however he did anyway. My head was mishapen due to the use of them but I seemed healthy otherwise. It wasn't until years later that my parents discovered I had Cerebral Palsy. When I started walking they noticed a limp and took me to a doctor. My Dad had Polio so the first doctor thought I was copying him. Eventually, I was diagnosed with mild Cerebral Palsy affecting my left side. I can remember getting that big brace I wore from the Shriner's hospital and I remember not really noticing I was different until my first days in school. Wow! Kids and unfortunately some teachers let you know immediately that you are just a little different. I remember the worries about my intellect, people looking at me, and being made fun of but the worst I can remember was when my kindergarten teacher stood me in front of the class and made fun of me because I couldn't zip my pants. This was the beginning of my life long journey to overcome the odds, knock down walls, and make people eat thier words.
I want to know what experiences people have had with teachers or others mistreating them for being different. Let me know.
Stay tuned..... There's more to come!
